NSS Campaigns

Students are the future citizens of the nations and they should be made aware of the problems faced by the society and should be imbued with the feeling that they are expected to find solutions for these. Extension activities are the best way to create in the minds of the students a moral and social responsibility towards their fellow beings, the society and the nation at large. The college has a unit of NSS with 250 participating students. The activities of the NSS are given high priority.
Highlights of the annual NSS activities are as follows,
Annual Town Cleaning Programme through the "Baramati Pattern." This pattern was initiated by the College in which NSS units of all neighbouring colleges combine to clean the major areas of the town.Blood Donation Camps. Two such camps are organized every year.Regular Campus Cleaning activities.Special Winter Camps in nearby villages. Exemplary work is done during these camps which include general village cleaning, literacy drives, playground cleaning, buildings of trenches and tanks, road building etc.Tree Plantation Drives in campus and nearby villages.Apart from these and many other activities of the NSS and other extension activities of the college, the College is part of the "Samarth Bharat Abhiyaan" (Self-reliant India Movement), an ambitious project initiated by the University of Pune under the guidance of erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Narendra Jadhav. This movement envisions making the villages of India self-reliant by active participation of centres of higher learning. Each college has to adopt a village and plan for the gradual upliftment of the village through various social, moral and cultural activities. The college has adopted the village Medad and is doing commendable work as is evident from the appreciation and wholehearted participation of the village community.

College-neighbourhood network is promoted mainly through the NSS and by various other activities of the college. Since the college itself is situated in a rural area, all its elements have a strong sense of social and moral responsibility towards its neighbourhood. Through the activities of the NSS, the students acquire a sense of service to the society and come to appreciate their societal obligations which form an inherent part of the character of a tolerant, responsible and accountable citizen. It must be noted here that to become a part of the NSS unit of the college, the student has to go through a stringent selection process. At the beginning of the year, applications are invited from the students willing to join the NSS. These applications are screened and the applicants are called for an interview which is conducted by the members of the NSS committee of the college. Out of these the selected students only make it to the final unit of NSS. Only those students displaying a strong sense of commitment to work for the welfare of their fellow beings are selected.
